EDINBURGH, Scotland – Aviagen® is excited to introduce the Ross® 470 Club, celebrating broiler producers across the United Kingdom who achieve a European Production Efficiency Factor (EPEF) of 470 or higher – placing them in the top 1% of the UK industry.
The Ross 470 Club is the next chapter in the success of Aviagen’s UK EPEF recognition program, which began in 2018 with the launch of the Ross 400 Club. Now, in response to consistent performance improvements, the threshold has been raised from 450 to 470 to reflect the growing achievements of UK producers. The new target is effective as of 1 May.
“We’re seeing an impressive upward trend in average EPEF scores, which speaks to the genetic progress of our broilers, combined with the excellent flock management, dedication and teamwork of our valued customers,” said Stuart Thomson, Regional Technical Manager for Aviagen UK. “To match this momentum, we’ve set a new standard. The Ross 470 Club recognizes those going above and beyond – a true mark of broiler management excellence.”
Stuart added that the growing number of repeat winners over the years shows a strong commitment to continuous improvement. “The broiler growers keep raising the bar and inspiring others in the industry with their results. It’s rewarding for us to see their success, and to celebrate it.”
Going for gold
For those who reach even greater heights, the Gold Club honors producers who qualify with three consecutive flocks or exceed the current entry level by 10%. For the Ross 470 Club, that means achieving an EPEF of 517 or more.
“We encourage all UK producers to aim for the Ross 470 Club – or even Gold,” concluded Stuart. “We know many are making incredible strides in broiler performance, welfare and sustainability, and we look forward to recognizing and celebrating their efforts.”
What can Ross 470 Club members look forward to?
Members of the Ross 470 Club will be invited to a special celebration in March 2026. The event will include an awards ceremony, some fun activities, and, most importantly, opportunities to share knowledge and experiences with fellow growers. The Aviagen team will give insights into EPEF trends as well as how balanced breeding supports bird health, welfare and sustainability.
In addition, winners will receive a certificate, club-branded farm merchandise, and well-deserved recognition for their hard work.
Apply for the Club today
To make it even easier to enter, Aviagen has introduced a user-friendly online system for EPEF submissions. Ross producers who are achieving standout results are encouraged to apply using this entry form.
