Industry veteran to lead North America operations
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Aviagen is pleased to announce the appointment of Derrick Tice as President of Aviagen North America, effective immediately. Tice brings more than 15 years of combined experience with Aviagen, supported by a distinguished background in operational leadership, quality assurance, and strategic account management across the poultry industry. His proven commitment to service, continuous improvement, and customer value positions him to lead Aviagen North America into its next chapter of growth and innovation.
During his career with Aviagen, Tice advanced through a series of progressive roles, including Grandparent Poultry Specialist, Quality Assurance Manager, Operations Manager, Director of Quality Assurance, and, most recently, Vice President of Live Production. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated exceptional leadership in production operations, flock health and welfare, biosecurity, quality management, and organizational performance.
Tice also held roles with Boehringer Ingelheim, where he expanded his commercial expertise and deepened relationships across the poultry value chain. As US Poultry Strategic Account Manager, he guided growth within major strategic accounts through collaboration, management insight, and a strong customer-focused approach.
Tice brings a notable 20-year record of military service with the Alabama Army National Guard, retiring as a Major. His military background – rooted in discipline, leadership, and mission focus – has shaped his approach to leading teams and supporting customers. He is also the recipient of numerous honors reflecting his dedication and exemplary performance.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, majoring in Poultry Science Management, from Mississippi State University.
